Ladder Safety
Description
 Individuals who use portable ladders to perform work or access heights must be trained in the recognition of hazards, the methods used to minimize these hazards, as well as the proper selection, inspection, use and maintenance of the portable ladders.

  • The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has established standards governing the care and use of ladders in the General Industry Standard, 29 CFR 1910 Subpart D - Walking and Working Surfaces, and in the Construction Standard, 29 CFR 1926 Subpart X - Ladders. Both Standards address the construction, selection, inspection, and use and maintenance of portable ladders.
