Great Manager Program
Description
In this three-day workshop learn what it takes to be a Great Manager at Yale!

The Great Manager Program will introduce you to Yale's expectations of leaders. The program will engage you in actively exploring how you can create a high-performing culture and inspire you to develop the skills that will bring out the best in your staff.

During this three-day workshop, you, as a manager of staff at Yale, will gain a greater understanding of yourself and your management style by completing the Everything DiSC behavioral assessment and the 360 Degree Feedback assessment as pre-work to the workshop. The assessment results will be reviewed during day one of the workshop, at which time you will explore your management style, its effect on others and where you can strengthen your leadership capabilities.

Please do not plan to leave during the lunch hour as a "working lunch" is provided each day of the program. Pre-work required:

Great Manager Program Pre-Work

To prepare for this workshop, there are three pre-work assignments and they must be completed in advance of the training:

  • The 360 Degree Feedback assessment – An external consulting firm, Zenger Folkman, collects the feedback. An email with detailed instructions on how to set up your 360 survey and add respondents will be sent to participants in advance of the training. You will receive your personal 360 feedback report at the workshop.
  • The DiSC behavioral assessment - This self-assessment measures observable behavior and is a very helpful tool for expanding self-awareness and appreciating differences within a team. You will receive your DiSC report at the workshop.
  • We encourage you to meet with your manager prior to the program to discuss the learning outcomes he or she would like you to achieve.
